Step by step recipe with photos and videos
Ingredients for a traditional Greek salad.
Wash the tomatoes, remove the tails and cut into large pieces, and the cherry tomatoes into halves. Place the prepared pieces in a large bowl.
Peel the cucumbers and also chop coarsely. The skin can be removed in whole or in part. I save a few strips of the peel - this is how a kind of pattern is obtained on the cucumber slices. Add the cucumbers to the bowl with the tomatoes.
Divide bell peppers into halves, peel from internal partitions and seeds and cut into strips. Add pepper to the rest of the vegetables.
Also peel and add the onion, cut into half rings or quarters, to the salad.
When the vegetables are prepared, add the seasonings - salt, oregano, ground black pepper and a generous serving of olive oil.
Mix everything thoroughly, taste and add wine vinegar or lemon juice to taste, and more spices as needed.
Our Greek salad is almost done. Line a plate with lettuce to serve. Add the prepared mixture of vegetables, as well as olives or olives (in the homeland of the dish, large olives of the Kalamata variety are most often used).
Cut the feta cheese into slices of the desired size and thickness and add it to the vegetables. One of the traditional options for serving salad involves not cutting a portion of cheese, but simply spreading it out on the surface in one whole piece.
Sprinkle the cheese with a pinch of dried or fresh oregano and drizzle with olive oil. Add 1 or 2 pinches of capers if desired.
The classic Greek salad is ready! Enjoy your meal!
