Step by step recipe with photos and videos
Creamy grape walnut salad is a classic American dish that can be found on the festive table and as an everyday delicacy. Simple in composition and in preparation, the salad turns out to be light and refreshing and has a very appetizing taste. The original name of the salad ("Creamy grape salad") reflects the essence of the dish - a combination of creamy creamy dressing and an abundance of grapes, the taste of which is piquantly emphasized by interspersed toasted nuts.
The dish can be served either as a salad with a relatively neutral taste, or as a dessert. The only difference between these two options is the presence or absence of sugar in the composition. In the conditionally “savory” version of the dish, a pleasant sweet and sour contrast of tastes is achieved due to the natural sweetness of the grapes and a slight sourness in the sour cream and cream cheese dressing. Sometimes, if the grapes are very sweet, lemon juice is added to the dressing in order to further enhance the contrast of tastes.
In the dessert version of the salad, vanilla and sugar can be added to the base dressing, which turns it into a real vanilla cream. The sweet version of the salad is closest to me, so today I propose to cook it, but focusing on the simple cooking process described in the recipe, you can easily prepare a savory version of the dish. Let's start ?!
For cooking, you will need such components (for more details, see the list of ingredients).
Wash and dry the bunches of grapes and separate the berries.
Combine cream cheese and sour cream in a separate container. Add vanilla and sugar to taste. If the grapes used are themselves very sweet, no sugar can be added.
Mix everything well until sugar dissolves.
Toast the nuts in a dry skillet for 4-5 minutes, until the aroma appears.
Then chop lightly with a knife.
Add the prepared creamy dressing and about 2/3 of the nuts to the grapes. Use the remaining nuts to garnish the dish.
Stir everything gently and place the salad in the refrigerator for 30-40 minutes to cool.
To serve, transfer the mixture to a salad bowl or serving tins. Sprinkle with the remaining nuts, garnish with grapes and mint leaves.
Creamy grape salad with nuts is ready. Enjoy your meal!
Important additions to the recipe
For the most spectacular look and taste of the salad, use seedless grape varieties with contrasting colors.
