While the watermelon season is in full swing, I suggest including it in the diet to the maximum! Recently I shared with you a recipe for watermelon soup, and today I want to share a simple but effective version of the salad. Let's prepare a bright and delicious salad with watermelon, cucumber and feta cheese!
I admit this salad is one of my favorite summer dishes to whip up. There are only three basic components, five minutes to prepare, and the result will not leave indifferent any connoisseur of delicious food!
The piquant contrast of the sweet pulp of watermelon and salted cheese is undoubtedly good in itself, but when it is delicately set off by the juicy pulp of a cucumber, it's just an explosion of taste and freshness! Try it!
Prepare your ingredients. Cool watermelon, cucumbers and cheese. Soak very salty Bulgarian feta cheese in cold water for 0.5-3 hours, until the degree of salinity acceptable to your taste.
Cut the cheese, watermelon and cucumber pulp into equal cubes. I have pieces - about 2 by 2 centimeters.
Next, you could just mix the ingredients of the salad, but instead, let's turn it into an edible Rubik's Cube!
Alternating between ingredients, arrange the slices in a square shape to form the base of the lettuce.
Then add another layer, positioning the pieces so that the outer row of components forms the pattern.
Add the final salad layer by arranging the ingredients in the order you want or as shown in the photo.
Sprinkle the salad with olive oil and sprinkle with freshly ground black pepper.
A salad of watermelon, cucumbers and feta cheese is ready! If desired, garnish the salad with a pinch of fresh herbs, drizzle with balsamic vinegar and serve.
This combination of ingredients can also be turned into a snack. Just cut out the flesh of the watermelon with a curly cookie cutter (I have a star shaped cookie cutter). Finely chop the cucumber and cheese, mix and place in small portions on the watermelon slices. Sprinkle the appetizer with olive oil (you can also use balsamic vinegar), sprinkle with pepper and serve.
