I always liked the taste of the shrimp and grapefruit salad, but I didn’t like to make it before because there was a lot of fiddling when you need to peel the grapefruit beautifully and neatly so that it doesn’t fall apart. But one fine day I thought to myself: why am I still suffering? In the end, I like the combination of the bitter acidity of grapefruit with shrimps, and not the look of neat slices! Well, God bless them, so they are neat. We will make it sloppy, but tasty and fast.
Having tried several options, I came to the conclusion that white cabbage or Chinese cabbage, or iceberg salad is optimal for my recipe for a salad with shrimps and grapefruit. All the rest are both bitter (and here there is enough grapefruit bitterness), and look sloppy.
Cut Chinese cabbage into thin, thin strips. If there is a ceremonial serving, then we put the outer leaves aside.
Chop the garlic.
We clean the grapefruit by removing the membranes, and the more it gets tousled at the same time, the better. We clean over the plate to collect all the juice that stands out.
Mix the grapefruit with bok choy, salt and pepper. We stir thoroughly.
We clean the shrimp from shells, if they were in shells. The shrimp should be completely thawed when you start cooking the salad.
Fry the shrimp in a pan in vegetable oil with garlic. Garlic should never turn black.
For ceremonial serving, lay out the sides of the serving container with Chinese cabbage leaves and put a pile of cabbage with grapefruit inside.
On top of this are shrimps, and be sure to pour more oil in which they were fried, it is a seasoning.
Shrimp and grapefruit salad is ready to serve.
Everything is very simple and pretty.
