The Nicoise salad is a traditional Provencal dish named after the city of Nice. This salad necessarily includes fresh vegetables, but in modern cooking there are many different options for its preparation, as well as the Caesar salad or Greek salad. I tried to bring my recipe closer to the original.
To prepare the salad, we need fresh tomatoes and bell peppers, onions, garlic, eggs, lettuce and basil, lettuce tuna, green olives, black pepper, wine vinegar and salt.
Peel the onion and cut into half rings.
Cut the pepper into strips.
Tear lettuce leaves with your hands, put in a bowl.
Add onion, pepper and tuna from the jar. Chop the tomatoes. In the classic salad Nicoise, of course, ideally should go anchovies, but we will not find them even in the daytime with fire, so many people cook Nicoise with tuna.
For dressing, mix olive oil with wine vinegar, add finely chopped basil and garlic. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Boil the eggs, peel and cut each into 4 pieces lengthwise.
Add eggs, olives to the salad, pour over the dressing and stir.
Place the salad on a serving plate. Decorate with fresh basil leaves.
