I really love to cook festive salads and always think carefully about how this or that salad will look.

The coming 2017 is the year of the Fire Rooster, and I propose to prepare a salad as a symbol of the coming year. For me, the year of the Rooster is special, since my son was born 24 years ago.

After reading all the recommendations about the New Year's menu, I decided, so as not to offend the owner of the year, not to include chicken meat in the salad, I will leave it for another occasion. But the rice and corn contained in my salad will delight our Cockerel.

For the "Cockerel" crab salad, we need to boil rice and one egg, which will be needed for decoration. The rest of the products only need to be grated and chopped.

Put the boiled rice on a plate in the first layer in the intended shape of a cockerel. During the cooking process, the layers will be adjusted, so at the initial stage it will not be clear what awaits us.

Grease the rice with a thin layer of mayonnaise and put crab sticks chopped into cubes on top.

Put mayonnaise on the crab sticks, then put the corn kernels.

Peel the apples and grate them, sprinkle with lemon juice. We do not grease the corn with mayonnaise, but immediately spread the apple layer. At this stage, we are already trying to correct the shortcomings.

We are starting to transform our salad. To do this, cut the scallop and beard of the cock from the red bell pepper. Also, cut feathers for the tail from yellow and red peppers or tomatoes, and the beak from yellow pepper or tomato.

We finish the design of the salad: for the eye, I took allspice and peas, and made the paws from salted straws. The plumage of the cockerel is made from grated egg white. This is how we got the Cockerel!
