Olivier with ham is one of the variations of the favorite New Year's salad of the Soviet era.


Premium ham - 300 g

Delicious New Year's salad named after Chef Lucien Olivier conquers with its "Russian" taste from the first spoon. The popularity of the famous "Olivier" on the festive table is impeccable. Diced ingredients mixed with sour cream or mayonnaise in an excellent winter salad create exactly that New Year's taste from the distant USSR.

There are several correct variations of making "Winter" salad - the second name of the dish. In the classic version, boiled sausage is used as a meat product. Boiled veal and ham are also often used. I suggest making "Olivier with ham".

Take the products from the list. For the salad, we will use the highest grade ham from turkey meat.

Pre-boil carrots and chicken eggs.

The potatoes are first cut into cubes and then boiled in salted water until tender.

Carrots are chopped into cubes. I prefer to cut the ingredients into small cubes.

Goes to the salad bowl. Try to choose a glass container with high sides. In such a salad bowl, it is not only convenient to mix, but also store the salad before serving.

The ham is removed from the film and cut into small cubes.

Goes for carrots.

Next, chicken eggs are cut.

The eggs follow the ham into the salad bowl.

Olivier without pickles? Not. We need to take home-salted hard pickled cucumbers, cut them into cubes and add to our main ingredients.

Our potatoes have been cooked for a long time. The water was drained through a sieve. Now let's send it to the cucumber salad. You can boil the potatoes in their skins, then peel and chop. I choose the faster cutting option. Since I cut vegetables finely, I don't like messing around with starchy potatoes.

Canned green peas must first be washed from mucus with cool boiled water. Excess moisture in "Olivier" is not welcome.

The main salad is almost ready. Optionally, "Olivier with ham" is supplemented with chopped onions.

Then the salad is gently mixed.

Before serving, "Olivier with ham" is seasoned with mayonnaise, salted to taste and mixed again. Decorated to your liking if desired. I suggest an option: parsley, ham rosette and chicken protein flowers.
