Who exactly is the author of the Walldorf salad is still not fully known. It is only known that it was first served in the restaurant of the famous American hotel "Waldorf Astoria", from where it traces its history with the appropriate name.
There are quite a few recipes for Waldorf salad at the moment, but the basis for any option is the constant combination of celery, apple, mayonnaise and lemon juice. Grapes, nuts, dried fruits, and sometimes even chicken breast are often added to salad as additional ingredients.
All variants of Waldorf salad are undoubtedly very tasty, but I want to offer you my own - with prunes and walnuts.
For the preparation of Waldorf salad (Waldorf), prepare the products according to the list. The calorie content of the salad is indicated taking into account the use of light mayonnaise.
Peel the celery of tough veins and cut into thin slices. You can also cut it into strips, if there is a desire and a sharp knife at hand.
Cut the apple into thin slices along with the skin, add to the celery. Season with a little salt and squeeze the lemon juice on top. Stir.
Add chopped prunes and chopped walnuts.
Season the salad with mayonnaise and stir.
Waldorf salad (Waldorf) is ready! Serve it as a light snack.
