Home-made shrimp paste seemed like a good alternative to one product that is sold in stores, and the idea of which I really liked. My shrimp paste recipe will have significantly more shrimp than the store-bought one. For some, this may be a disadvantage, because it makes the product more expensive. I suggest that they add an additional hard-boiled egg to the recipe. It will make the shrimp paste thicker, but… um… less shrimp. My consistency is rather liquid. I poured it on the bread with a spoon, and did not spread it.

We clean the garlic. Set aside about a third of the shrimp. We combine all the ingredients (except for the very shrimp that we need later).

Thoroughly grind the shrimp paste in a blender - until it acquires the consistency of mayonnaise.

Chop the set aside shrimp with a knife. Add to the rest of the paste. Season to taste.

You can eat shrimp paste both with bread and as a gravy.

Important additions to the recipe

If you have raw shrimp, then they should be boiled in boiling water for literally one minute, and then drain the boiling water and sprinkle with cold water. This cooking time is only suitable for small shrimp. Large ones should be cooked longer.

  • The shrimp should not have any fishy or other unpleasant odor. The smell of fresh shrimp is not fishy, but sweetish.
