The peasant soup gets its name from the simplicity of the ingredients and the filling. You can cook it in meat, vegetable broth or in water. If you cook the soup in water, without meat, you can season it with onions fried with bacon.
For cooking, we need: chicken, water, salt, potatoes, millet and fresh herbs.
Divide the chicken in half into 2 parts, for making the soup we only need half of the chicken.
Cut the chicken into smaller pieces. Place the chicken in a pot of water and cook for 30 minutes. It will take much longer for the chicken soup, 1.5-2 hours.
Remove the boiled chicken from the broth, and the broth itself must be filtered.
Peel and chop the potatoes. Put potatoes in a saucepan with broth and put on fire.
Rinse the millet and also put in a saucepan.
Bring the soup to a boil, cover and cook until the potatoes and cereals are tender, about 15 minutes. At the very end, salt the Peasant Soup to taste.
Separate the chicken meat from the bones and add to the soup. Season the soup with fresh herbs, cook for another 2-3 minutes.
The peasant soup is ready.
