Dumplings can be cooked as a separate dish and served, for example, with fried onions. But I like the dumplings in the soup better, especially in the chicken broth.
By adjusting the amount of flour, you can get either denser dumplings or tender - you decide.
From the specified amount of products for dumplings, you can prepare soup in a saucepan with a volume of 2-2.5 liters.
To prepare the classic dumplings for milk soup, we will prepare the products according to the list.
Lightly beat the egg and salt with a whisk. Without fanaticism.
Let's add milk. We mix.
Then - flour.
Stir vigorously so that there are no lumps.
The dumpling dough is ready. For me, the consistency is ideal when it flows lazily from the whisk.
You can start cooking the soup.
Potatoes and vegetables are already ready, it's time to put the dumplings in the soup. Dip a teaspoon into the broth, it will become greasy and the dough will easily slide off of it into the soup. I usually add half to a third of a spoon. Keep in mind that after the dumplings are cooked, they will increase significantly in size.
Put a spoonful of dough in boiling soup! The dumplings will float immediately. When you send the last part of the dough to the soup, the dumplings are ready. This will take no more than a minute.
