Probably, every housewife has to cook borscht quite often. This dish is not prepared very quickly, although you can find ways to simplify and speed up the preparation. One of these options is borsch dressing, the recipe for which is present on our website. Well, another way to make cooking borscht easier, in my opinion, is a slow cooker. Why?

A very convenient function of the multicooker is the delayed start function. So, if you load all the necessary components into the multicooker bowl, further cooking can take place without our participation, and even in our absence. You can load the necessary ingredients in the morning, set the program and safely leave for work. And at lunchtime, come and get fresh ready-made borscht - delicious and aromatic.

There are only some nuances associated with the fact that when cooking in a multicooker, we have only one heating device and only one cooking bowl (on the stove we would be able to cook on all burners at once). That is why the order of preparation of components for borscht is somewhat different for me than if I were cooking borscht on a gas stove.

Let's prepare the components for cooking pork borscht in a slow cooker.

Borscht in a multicooker can be cooked both from fresh cabbage and from sour cabbage. Today I make borscht from sauerkraut. To slightly reduce the acidity, I'll rinse and soak the cabbage. If you are using fresh cabbage, then you just need to chop it.

We begin to cook ordinary borscht by making broth. If we start cooking borscht in a slow cooker with the preparation of broth, then the bowl will be occupied by broth, and we will have nothing to cook the dressing in. Therefore, we will start cooking borscht in a multicooker with the preparation of the dressing. Chop carrots, beets and onions.

Put onions and carrots in a bowl and save in vegetable oil by setting the "Fry" program.

Add beets to the onions and carrots, pour half a glass of water and simmer the vegetables for about 20 minutes using the Stew program.

Add tomato paste and fry the dressing for 10 minutes on the "Fry" program. We take out the finished dressing into a separate bowl, emptying the multicooker bowl for making the broth.

Fill the meat with water, filling the multicooker bowl about three quarters. We cook meat on the "Stew" or "Soup" program for 40-60 minutes (the cooking time of the meat depends on its hardness).

Add the peeled and diced potatoes to the broth and salt. We will cook for about 15 minutes using the same programs.

Next, add the cabbage and continue cooking for another 25 minutes.

Add the sautéer, bay leaf, pepper and cook for another 15 minutes.

When serving, add herbs and garlic to the finished dish.

Serve the finished pork borscht with sour cream or mayonnaise.
