What could be better than a hot fish soup for lunch ?! Serve the soup with hot pepper for adults, and with sour cream for children.
Baltic herring - 300 g
Tomato - 2 pcs.
Carrots - 1 pc.
Bulb onions - 1 pc.
Green onions - 3-4 g (2 stalks)
Parsley - 3-4 g
Salt - 3 pinches
Ground black pepper - 2 pinches
Bay leaf - 2-3 pcs.

Prepare the specified products for herring fish soup and start cooking!
The main thing is to thoroughly clean the small fish from the entrails and black film inside the abdomen, as they are very bitter and ruin the whole taste of the dish. If you have fresh, dried, or frozen celery available, be sure to add it to the pot. In the absence of such a product, use fresh herbs: green onions, parsley, dill, etc.
Peel the onions and carrots, rinse and cut into medium to fine cubes as desired. Also cut the tomato into slices. Rinse the Baltic herring, remove the heads, entrails and the black film inside the belly. Rinse the fish carcasses again.
Put the peeled and washed herring along with the vegetables in a saucepan or cauldron. Since the fish is small, it will not cook for long, along with vegetables. However, if you are going to add potatoes, first boil the potato slices for 10 minutes, then add the fish and vegetables. Add salt, black pepper and bay leaves.
Pour in water and boil everything for about 10 minutes.
Rinse and chop fresh herbs, add them to the saucepan with the fish soup, boil for another 3-5 minutes. At this stage, you can add a pod of hot pepper, garlic or a glass of vodka to the ear if the children will not eat the dish.
Pour herring soup into deep bowls and serve hot.
Important additions to the recipe
For those who like more hearty dishes, I recommend adding potatoes to the list of products, increasing the cooking time of the fish soup to 20 minutes. But potatoes are not the main thing in this dish - they can be easily eliminated.
