This delicious soup is prepared in all Czech cafes; it is a kind of visiting card of the Czech Republic. All the charm of this soup is in fried potato pieces and a lot of garlic, so it can be cooked not only in broth, but also in water. Despite the fact that there is a lot of garlic in it, its smell will not haunt you after tasting, so feel free to cook and enjoy the incredible taste. Toasted croutons and grated cheese also add a special piquancy to this garlic soup.
To prepare the soup, we need chicken broth, potatoes, garlic, marjoram, bay leaf, black pepper, salt, a piece of stale white bread and baked lard.
Wash the potatoes well, peel and cut into small cubes (approximately 1 * 1 cm).
Heat melted lard in a frying pan, pour potatoes into it and fry a little over high heat. As soon as the potatoes begin to turn a little gold, add the garlic chopped into slices and bay leaf. Stir and keep on fire until a fragrant smell of garlic appears.
Transfer the potatoes to a saucepan, pour over the chicken broth, season with salt and pepper and add the marjoram. Cook until potatoes are tender.
Cut the bread into cubes, fry in butter until golden brown.
Pour the soup into a plate, lay out the toasted pieces of bread and sprinkle with cheese if desired.
