Recently I was asked to look after a toddler who is one year old. For lunch, I decided to cook buckwheat soup for the child.
Since I had already forgotten what and at what age a child can eat from vegetables, I had to look for information on the Internet. Basically, onions and carrots poached in broth rather than fried in oil were offered as a vegetable component of buckwheat soup, and a celery stalk appeared in several recipes. Having contacted the baby's mother, I found out that they have been giving the baby celery for two months already, in soups, and in boiled form.
I will cook buckwheat soup for a baby at the age of 1 year with celery, you can not put it in the soup if your baby has never eaten it or does not like its taste.
And yet, you can cook buckwheat soup for the baby in chicken broth and then add some of the meat to the soup. I made soup with water.
To prepare a delicious and healthy buckwheat soup for a child, we will immediately prepare all the products on the list.
Peel the potatoes and cut them into small cubes. Put the potatoes in a saucepan, fill it with water.
Sort the buckwheat, rinse under running water and add to the pan. Put the pan on fire, and when the water boils, add salt to taste. Cook the soup for 15-18 minutes, during which time the potatoes and cereals will cook.
Cut the carrots into cubes, peel the onions and also cut into cubes. Cut the celery stalk into slices.
Put the vegetables in a frying pan, pour in a couple of spoons of broth and let the vegetables in for 4-6 minutes. They will become soft. Add butter to the pan and let it melt.
Put the steamed vegetables into the soup and cook everything together for another 7-10 minutes.
If you grind your child's food in a blender, you can do the same with this soup. For me, the baby's mother suggested chopping part of the soup with a potato grinder, but at the same time try to leave some of the vegetables in pieces so that the child could chew them himself.
Buckwheat soup for a one-year-old child is ready! Cool the soup and then give the baby the soup.
Feed your kids tasty and healthy! Bon appetite to your baby!
Important additions to the recipe
For parents' attention: fresh celery is introduced into the diet of children after 1 year. In boiled form, both celery root and petioles are recommended to be given to children in soups from 9 months. In any case, check with your doctor if you can add celery to your soup or not, and if not, then just don't use it in this soup recipe.
