I will add a lean recipe to the cabbage collection. For some eaters, lean cabbage may not be as good as the meat option, but it's still delicious too! Such a soup will help out during the fasting period, perfectly saturate those who adhere to vegetarianism and simply add variety to the menu.
I'll show you how to cook lean cabbage with a multicooker as an example, it's more convenient for me. If you just cook in a saucepan, then the whole difference is the preparation of some vegetables in a pan, and not in a multicooker bowl.
Pay attention to the quality of the millet. Better taste and healthier properties - the cereals have a uniform yellow color, avoid faded, pale yellow and dirty.
For lean cabbage, prepare the ingredients as listed.
Rinse the millet groats in several waters, almost hot at the end.
Chop the onion, chop the garlic, or simply crush the wide side of a knife, and coarsely grate the carrots. Set the cooking mode to 15 minutes. First, fry the vegetables for 7-8 minutes while stirring.
Then add tomato paste (and adjika sauce), stir and fry for another five minutes.
At the end of frying, add the sauerkraut and about one glass of water to the bowl.
If the cabbage tastes too sour, then it must either be rinsed or even soaked for several minutes. Stir.
After the beep to deactivate the cooking mode, set the soup or simmering mode.
Place small cubed potatoes and rinsed millet in a bowl. Pour in hot water and cook cabbage soup until tender.
The time depends on the properties of the multicooker. I know that some give a pretty strong boil and about half an hour will be enough. Other models have low boiling, almost simmering, and cooking time can be up to one hour.
Also decide how much you want to boil the millet? And remove from the heat when it looks like it is.
Lean cabbage with rich taste and boiled millet is ready.
Serve the lean cabbage with fresh herbs of your choice, such as chopped dill or green onions. I have a tart chives growing on my windowsill all year round, and I crumbled it.
Important additions to the recipe
You can use pickled cabbage instead of sauerkraut.
- Tomato paste can be substituted with any tomato sauce of your choice or ketchup.
