Potato balls are a simple, tasty and easy-to-prepare snack that will add a pleasant variety to your daily menu and, if necessary, give new life to the leftovers of yesterday's mashed potatoes. Shaped into miniature balls, wrapped in a golden, slightly crunchy breading, even the usual and in itself unremarkable mashed potatoes, it acquires a bright, appetizing appearance and a very seductive taste. Try it!
For mashed potato balls with cheese, prepare the ingredients as listed.
Pour cold water over potatoes, add 1-2 pinches of salt, bring water to a boil and boil potatoes until tender. Then drain the hot water and cool the potatoes slightly.
Peel the potatoes and mash until smooth.
Chop the garlic finely and fry over low heat in a little vegetable oil until golden brown. Alternatively, the garlic can be wrapped in foil and baked in the oven until tender.
Add toasted garlic, chopped green onions, a little salt, 1 tbsp to the mashed potatoes. vegetable or butter and ground black pepper to taste.
Mix everything well and then chill the puree completely. Yesterday's mashed potatoes are also good for making potato balls.
Grind the crackers into small crumbs.
Add grated cheese, some paprika, suneli hops, salt and ground black pepper to taste to the crackers. Mix everything well.
Break a chicken egg into a separate container. Beat the chicken egg lightly with a fork until smooth.
Use your hands soaked in water to form small balls of the chilled mashed potatoes. If you are using mashed potatoes that lack viscosity to make the balls, add some wheat flour to the mashed potatoes.
Dip each potato ball alternately in flour and a beaten egg, and then roll in the prepared breading of chopped crackers.
Place the potato balls and cheese on a sheet of baking paper with oil. Place in an oven preheated to 200-225 degrees and bake for 15 minutes until golden brown.
During the cooking process, mashed potato balls may slightly increase in size, and as a result, their breading may slightly crack, and the balls themselves may be slightly deformed, but this does not negatively affect their wonderful taste.
