I'm not a big fan of cereals and all kinds of cereals, but if I choose, then wheat porridge is the tastiest for me, although it may not be as useful as, for example, oatmeal.
In addition to "just boil" there is another option - to cook wheat porridge with carrots and onions. It turns out very tasty, for a side dish - the very thing.
There are several varieties of wheat groats, from the finest grinding to coarse (bulgur). For this porridge, I took medium-sized cereals, it is yellowish in color, not brown, as it was once on sale everywhere, and even now it still exists - Artek cereal.
And we need the simplest ingredients.
Carrots need to be grated, chopped onion smaller.
Rinse wheat grits several times in cold water.
It is convenient to cook such porridge in a cauldron or in a non-stick saucepan. Heat the cauldron well over a fire and add vegetable oil. Heat the oil well and fry the onions until the color is acceptable.
Then add the carrots. Fry everything together for a couple of minutes with stirring.
Some people like the more fried version, this one suits me.
Add washed wheat grits.
Pour it with water at the rate of one part of the cereal - two and a half parts of water. That is, for 130 grams of cereal, I needed 350 ml of water. I added a glass of water immediately and then a little less than half. Be sure to salt. Bring to a boil and cook with the lid open until the water almost boils away. The fire is small. Do not forget to stir the porridge so that it does not stick to the bottom. When a little water remains, reduce the heat even more, cover the porridge with a lid and let it come to full readiness.
The consistency of wheat porridge turns out to be viscous, but thickens very quickly after turning off the heat.
And when wheat porridge with carrots and onions is laid out on plates, it takes on a completely crumbly appearance. Enjoy!
