Step by step recipe with photo
Polenta is an Italian cornmeal dish. It can be served as a porridge, as a side dish, as an ingredient in a salad, or even as bread. Delicious on its own, polenta tastes even better with meat sauces, cheese or vegetables. Most of the time, I use polenta as a base for all kinds of sandwiches and snacks, from canapes to pizza.
Cooking polenta is quite laborious, you need to cook porridge of a very thick consistency with constant stirring for at least 40 minutes! Therefore, I entrust this process to my bread maker in the "jam" mode and plan to try a multicooker for this purpose. If you need polenta as a side dish porridge, then add 3 cups of water, and if like bread, then cook it in 2.5 stanacas of water or set the "jam" mode twice.
Prepare corn grits, water, olive oil, and whatever you will be serving with, such as cheeses and vegetables.
Place the cornmeal in the container of the bread maker, add olive oil, pour in water.
Set the "jam" mode.
After the end beep, the polenta is ready. The photo shows a very thick version.
Place the polenta in the mold and tamp, silicone is very convenient for this purpose.
This polenta will be used as a blank for pizza, so I cut the finished one into several cakes.
Polenta can also be used to make canapes with cheese, vegetables, sausages and meat.
Good polenta with mushroom caviar from dry mushrooms.
Polenta makes a tasty and healthy pizza.
Here is such polenta … multifunctional:)
By the way, in Moldova, such a corn thing is called hominy.
Enjoy your meal!
