Chickpeas are a great source of vegetable protein! It has become popular with us quite recently, and you can already find it on sale in stores. In appearance, chickpeas resemble hazelnuts, but are a kind of peas. Usually, chickpeas are sold dried, so you can avoid the procedure of soaking chickpeas only if you buy canned chickpeas in the supermarket.
You can cook many dishes from chickpeas, both sweet and savory. My home menu has chickpea dishes: hummus, falafel, chickpea burgers, chickpea cutlets, chickpea sweets. Today I suggest you make chickpea puree as a side dish.
Preparing chickpea porridge is very easy. We will prepare all the products according to the list.
In the evening, fill the chickpeas with water so that the water is 2-3 fingers higher than the chickpeas. You need to take a larger bowl, because in the water the chickpeas will begin to swell and increase in size. It is advisable to change the water in the bowl with chickpeas a couple of times within 12 hours.
Drain the water from the swollen chickpea. We shift the chickpeas into a saucepan and fill with water at the rate of 1 part peas to 2 parts water. Add 1 tbsp. salt and cook chickpeas for an hour and a half. Don't expect the chickpeas to disintegrate when cooked, they hold their shape even when cooked.
Drain the water from the finished chickpea.
IMPORTANT: do not immediately pour out all the water in which the chickpeas were cooked, leave 100 ml in order to dilute the puree to the desired consistency.
We shift the chickpeas into a blender and punch the peas into mashed potatoes.
Pour cream into the chickpea puree.
Add butter and some ground red sweet paprika. We punch all the ingredients well together. If the chickpea puree is very thick, add the water in which it was boiled.
Chickpea porridge is an excellent side dish for meat, fish and even vegetable dishes. And how useful!

Important additions to the recipe
If you want to speed up the chickpea making process, you can use baking soda. It can be placed either when soaking or while cooking. If you use soda when soaking, then before cooking, the water with soda should be drained and boiled in clean water.
