There is a lot of debate about whether to cook in the microwave. But sometimes there are circumstances when you live where there really is no stove. It happened that a friend found herself in such a situation when her husband was transferred to a new job. And soon, as far as I know, I will find myself in the same conditions: in the hotel where we will spend five days, there is a common kitchen, but it will only have a microwave. And it will be in Thailand, whose cuisine, as far as I know, is not very suitable for me. No, I, of course, hope for the best … But in case I suddenly need a sparing rice diet, I decided to learn how to cook rice in the microwave in advance.

The method that I will show here is as close as possible to how I cook rice on the stove, so it is easiest for me to remember it. The variety took "jasmine" - I hope that in Thailand it will be exactly the same. The ratio of ingredients is taken in volumes: 1 measure of rice - 2 measures of water. If you need slimy rice with a lot of liquid, add about half a cup over the top. Salt tastes like you would salt rice in a saucepan.

Put rice and water in a microwave container with a lid, salt.

Microwave covered rice for 10 minutes at 800 watts or so.

The water will not evaporate completely after the first 10 minutes. If you want slimmer rice, stir it and leave it covered for another 10 minutes. If you need normal dry glutinous rice, put it in the microwave under the lid for another 10 minutes on the "thawing" mode - about 240 W.

Microwaved rice is ready! In my opinion, there is not much difference in consistency with regular rice cooked on the stove.
