The set of products for such a simple dish as pea porridge with pearl barley and cheese is quite simple - these are peas, pearl barley, Adyghe cheese, water. You will need vegetable oil to fry the cheese. Salt is also needed.
Spices and herbs are added to your taste, but it is worth noting that these ingredients significantly decorate the dish, so you should not neglect them.
Rinse peas and pearl barley and put in a saucepan. Fill with BOILING (!!!) water to save yourself the hassle of not boiling peas. Add salt. You can put a bay leaf. Bring to a boil, remove foam and, reducing heat, cook until tender.
Readiness is determined by almost completely boiled peas and soft barley. This may take a different amount of time depending on the fire. But it is better to cook pea porridge with barley on a minimum heat. The porridge turns out to be viscous, it is better to let it be more liquid, because after standing it will thicken significantly.
Adyghe cheese is a decoration for pea porridge with barley, but frying cheese is not the most primitive process. Difficulties may arise: strong splashing of butter (depending on the moisture content of the cheese), crumbling cheese (a weakly heated frying pan and a lot of cheese was laid out), burnt cheese (distracted and overexposed the cheese).
In a well-heated skillet with butter (you can put some spices in the butter), place the cheese cubes in parts, so that they do not touch each other. When one side is browned, start turning the cubes over and fry the other barrel. Later, you can more boldly turn the cubes over with a spatula, they should no longer fall apart. Adyghe cheese is fried rather quickly, so you should not leave the process unattended.
Put the prepared hot pea porridge with barley into a warm plate, add cubes of fried cheese, add herbs. Serve to the table.
