About Me – Kelsey Warren

Hi, I am Kelsey Warren, the founder and heart behind Food Cooking Guide, and I am so glad you found your way here. I am a 37 year old home cook living in Asheville, North Carolina, where I share my kitchen with my husband, two curious kids, and an aging golden retriever who is convinced every recipe test was created just for him. I grew up in a small town in the Midwest, and some of my earliest memories are of standing on a chair beside my grandmother’s stove, learning that great food does not have to be complicated to make people feel cared for. Those slow afternoons, flour on my face and soup bubbling on the stove, shaped the way I cook and the way I see family, and they are a big part of why I tell my story in this space today.

Why I Created Food Cooking Guide

The purpose of this website is simple. I want busy families, new cooks, and anyone who has ever felt intimidated in the kitchen to feel welcome, supported, and inspired to cook at home. My recipes are easy, affordable, and family friendly, and every dish I share has been cooked, tasted, sometimes tweaked, and occasionally laughed over when it did not turn out exactly as planned.

What You Can Expect Here

  • Practical recipes tested in my own home kitchen
  • Simple ingredients you can find at any grocery store
  • Tips and stories from real-life cooking experiences
  • A warm, supportive space for beginners and busy families

I studied culinary arts in a community program in Chicago in my twenties, then spent years cooking for friends, hosting potlucks, and working part time in a small café kitchen. Those experiences gave me practical skills, but real confidence came from dinners I burned, casseroles I rescued at the last minute, and the nights when my kids told me honestly that a new idea needed more cheese. Cooking is something we all learn one meal at a time, and I try to be open about both the wins and the mishaps so you know you are not alone.

My Philosophy in the Kitchen

When I write and develop recipes for Food Cooking Guide, I picture someone standing in their kitchen after a long day, looking for something comforting that doesn’t require complicated techniques or special equipment. I experiment often, and not every idea works out, but each attempt teaches me something. I once tried to recreate a complicated restaurant dessert and ended up serving a lopsided chocolate cake that leaned to one side, but we cut into it anyway and laughed around the table. Moments like that remind me that food is about connection more than perfection.

  • Comfort over perfection
  • Honest ingredients and real-life cooking
  • Family meals that bring people together
  • Learning from experimentation and mistakes

Trust, Transparency, and Community

Trust matters to me, and I want you to feel confident in the recipes and stories you find here. Every recipe reflects my real experience as a home cook in the United States, and every story comes from my own life. Over time, readers have become a true community, and I am grateful for every message, photo, and shared kitchen success.
