Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened to room temperature
  • 2 cups powdered sugar sifted
  • 2-3 tbsp milk or heavy cream as needed
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with an electric hand mixer or stand mixer on medium speed until smooth and creamy, about 1-2 minutes.
  2. Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until just combined. Add the vanilla extract and mix again.
  3. Add 2 tablespoons of milk and beat on medium-high speed for 2-3 minutes, until the frosting is light and fluffy. Add another tablespoon of milk if needed to reach your desired consistency.

How to Thicken: If the frosting is too thin, add more powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time.
