- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease an 8-inch cast-iron skillet with butter.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Add the egg and vanilla extract and whisk until smooth.
- Add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir with a spatula until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chunks.
- Press the cookie dough evenly into the prepared skillet. Top with extra chocolate chips and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt.
- Bake for 18-22 minutes, until the edges are golden and the center is set but still soft.
- Let it cool for 5-10 minutes. Serve warm, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
Do not overbake: For a perfectly gooey center, remove the skillet from the oven when the middle still looks slightly underdone.
